Brampton Makes Recreation More Accessible with ActiveAssist Expansion

BRAMPTON, ON (April 3, 2024) – The City of Brampton is taking strides to break down financial barriers and foster inclusivity in its recreation programs with the expansion of its subsidy initiative, ActiveAssist. Now, residents can leverage subsidy credits not only for registered programs but also for drop-in activities, marking a significant step towards promoting accessibility.

Generously sponsored by 407 ETR and Capital Power, ActiveAssist serves as a vital support system for low-income individuals and families, facilitating their participation in a diverse range of recreation programs offered by the City.

With each approved applicant receiving a $275 credit, ActiveAssist opens doors to a myriad of recreational pursuits, fostering physical fitness, social connections, and personal growth. This subsidy, which now extends to drop-in programs, allows approved family members to share in the benefits, further enhancing inclusivity within the community.

Overcoming Barriers, Empowering Communities

Since its inception in 2013, ActiveAssist has been instrumental in supporting over 55,000 individuals and families in accessing vital recreation services. By eliminating financial barriers, the City of Brampton remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering residents and fostering a culture of well-being for all.
