Toronto Metropolitan University’s new School of Medicine in Brampton welcomes its first class of 94 students, marking Ontario’s first new medical school in over 30 years and the GTA’s first in more than a century. This milestone is the result of years of advocacy, partnerships, and determination, especially through the pandemic which highlighted Brampton’s urgent healthcare needs. The school offers students the chance to study and serve their own community, while new facilities will provide primary care for 1,700 patients. As part of Brampton’s growing health and life sciences sector, this achievement positions the city as a hub for innovation and healthcare excellence.
