Working together for a safer Brampton
Councillor Santos will be hosting a crime prevention workshop at City Hall, to help residents keep themselves, their families and their property safe. This free workshop is a shortened version of the Crime Prevention Academy offered by Peel Police and will provide participants with the basics of crime prevention, vehicle safety, home security, personal safety and fraud prevention.
Peel Police Team Makes Record Seizure of Guns and Gangs in 2024
Peel Regional Police seized more than double the illegal firearms this year compared to 2023 thanks to their STEP program. This program focuses on removing guns from streets and reducing gang violence. In total, Peel police seized 205 illegal guns in 2024, with STEP seizing 53 of them. The government is committed to supporting such initiatives to enhance public safety.
Update on Project E.R.A.S.E
Peel Regional Police ran Project E.R.A.S.E. to combat dangerous driving and street racing. The program used education, enforcement, and social awareness to improve road safety. They investigated over 1,100 vehicles and issued charges for speeding, noise violations, and impaired driving.

Road Safety Update – Advocating for Speed Enforcement Cameras Outside of Safety Zones
Road racing, aggressive driving, and speeding along regional roads in Peel Region continue to result in death and injury. A recent early morning incident on Bovaird Drive resulted in the death of 3 men with police suggesting a link to street racing. A motion by Councillor Santos to advocate to the Minister of Transportation for changes to the Highway Traffic Act to allow ASE Cameras outside of Community Safety Zones and School Zones was passed by Regional Council.
