Residential Rental Licensing Starts JAN 2024
The Residential Rental Licensing (RRL) Pilot Program, a two-year initiative for rental landlord registration and licensing, was approved during the March 29, 2023 Committee of Council meeting. The program’s framework was subsequently presented to the Committee of Council on September 20, 2023, and received unanimous approval.

Brampton Food Hub Collaboration on Food Insecurity
Food insecurity in Brampton and Peel Region is a growing challenge. Recent statistics for Peel Region show that 111,925 residents (8%) live in poverty in Peel. Food prices have increase by 11.4% year over year. Find our more about a new collaboration of community groups working to help.
Downtown Brampton Neighbourhood Tackles Community Safety Challenges
Over 40 residents participated in the Central Public School Community Safety Workshop along with representatives from Peel Police, Region of Peel Human Services, By-law Enforcement, City Security, the City’s Community Safety team, Welcoming Streets Outreach, Regeneration Outreach, Mayor Brown, Councillor Santos and Councillor Vicente and their support teams.
Community Safety Meeting Scheduled
Residents in the Downtown Brampton area and along the Etobicoke Trail Creek have seen a rise in crime, drugs, mental health issues and encampments in the area. We’re taking the issue very seriously and convening a community safety meeting with the goal of creating an action plan and follow-up.
A Summer of Community Impact and Youth Empowerment: My Internship with Councillor Santos
As the sun sets on my unforgettable summer internship with Councillor Rowena Santos, I find myself reflecting on the incredible experiences I’ve had while working on two remarkable events: the Teramoto Park Cleanup and the End of Summer Youth Connect. These events not only allowed me to grow as an individual but also provided a platform for our community’s youth to make a meaningful impact.
Gender-Based Violence declared an epidemic in Peel Region
The City of Brampton and Peel Region has declared gender-based violence and intimate partner violence an epidemic. In a motion brought forward by Councillor Navjit Kaur Brar and Councillor Rowena Santos at Brampton Committee of Council on June 21, council unanimously agreed that the problem is an epidemic and must be addressed with increased supports by all levels of government.
Brampton Takes a Swing: Solidifying Its Position as the Cricket Capital of North America with Enhanced Amenities and Investments
Brampton City Council passed a motion to move forward with additional enhancements to cricket infrastructure, reaffirming its commitment to the growth and development of the sport. These upgrades support the sport’s expansion and further cement Brampton’s status as the Cricket Capital of North America.
