Thank you for attending the 2025 Budget Chat for Wards 1 & 5 on January 14. It was wonderful to see and hear from all of you.
Budget 2025 Summary:
The 2025 budget reflects our commitment to balancing fiscal responsibility with critical investments that prioritize health, safety, keeping residents active, and infrastructure projects that benefit our city for generations! Check it out here: 2025 Budget Summary
In follow-up to the Budget Chat, I promised to share key initiatives:
- Keep reporting your complaints online so we have it on record: Service Request Categories
- It’s easier to report online and you won’t be on hold over the phone with 311
- Email me (rowena.santos@brampton.ca) with your COBI reference number and describe the issue
- My team and I will make sure to follow-up with respective departments and we can provide an update
Occupancy Limits and the RRL:
Through the Residential Rental Licensing (RRL) Pilot Program, we are taking proactive steps to hold slum landlords accountable. In addition to the positive updates from last night, I brought forward a motion for the City of Brampton to set occupancy limits. This initiative introduces stricter guidelines and enforcement to tackle overcrowding in rental accommodations, improving safety and quality of life in our neighbourhoods.
- Occupancy Standards and Overcrowding in Rental Accommodations
- Supplementary Report to “Staff Report re. Occupancy Standards and Overcrowding in Rental Accommodations”
Safer Drivers = Safer Roads, a call for the Provincial government to act:
Today, I championed a motion urging the provincial government to address unsafe, unqualified, and fraudulent drivers and instructors. The Safer Drivers = Safer Roads motion calls on the provincial government to implement City of Brampton-endorsed recommendations to crack down on fraudulent driving schools and ensure drivers receive adequate training that demonstrates the necessary skills to drive safely on our roads.
