Knights Table will mark a major milestone in its 34-year history with an official groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility at 73 Hale Road on June 17, joined by Mayor Patrick Brown, City Councillors, and other community partners.
This moment represents more than construction, it marks the beginning of a new chapter in how the organization serves thousands of individuals and families facing food insecurity across Brampton.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Annie Bynoe, Knights Table recently secured the property at 73 Hale Road after decades of operating in shared and temporary spaces. The new facility will enable the organization to expand its programs and deliver food and wraparound supports in a safe, dignified, and welcoming environment.
“For years, we have done everything we can to serve our community with the resources available to us,” said Annie Bynoe, Executive Director of Knights Table. “Now, we are creating a space that truly reflects the dignity our clients deserve—a place where people can access food, support, and community without barriers”, she added.
As of now, Knights Table operates 365 days a year, serving over 350,000 meals and distributing 4 million+ pounds of food annually, and over 500,000 visits in the past year. The new facility will expand Knights Table’s ability to deliver a wide range of wraparound supports that go beyond food access. The space will include a commercial kitchen, a grocery-style food bank, and a welcoming dining area designed to foster connection and community. It will also create opportunities for skills development, educational programming, and on-site services delivered in partnership with community organizations. Through dedicated classrooms and program space, Knights Table aims to support individuals, families, children, and seniors as they build stability, develop skills, and move toward greater independence.
The groundbreaking also marks the official beginning of Knights Table’s capital campaign, as the organization works to raise the remaining funds needed to complete renovations to the space.
“Knights Table has been a true anchor in serving the most vulnerable in our community. It has been an honour to work with them during the pandemic, supporting their leadership in creating the Brampton Food Hub collaborative and now helping to break ground for this incredible new location. Knights Table has always been here for those most in need. Let’s all support this important milestone. Every contribution makes a difference to build this legacy in our community,” said Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor and Chair of Community Services.
“This is a community effort,” added Bynoe. “We invite residents, partners, and supporters to join us in building something lasting for Brampton. One can contribute by donating under the Capital Campaign which will help us complete the renovations of the new place”, she said.
The event will take place on Wednesday, June 17 at 3:30 PM at 73 Hale Road, and will include remarks from city officials, community partners, and a ceremonial groundbreaking.
