During the Regional Council meeting May 23, the focus was on the critical issues of homelessness and mental health services within our community. Peel is chronically underfunded in these essential areas, and today’s discussions reinforced the urgent need for increased provincial support.
Calling on the federal government to lead the development, in coordination with provinces, territories and municipalities, to implement a comprehensive plan to end homelessness that is focused on providing housing for those experiencing chronic homelessness.
March 26, 2024 — As International Women’s Month draws to a close, Councillor Santos, alongside her band Point of Order, delivers a musical tribute to the theme of empowerment and inclusion. Their rendition of Christina Aguilera’s anthem “Fighter” serves as a resounding call to embrace individuality and champion diversity.
This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is Inspire Inclusion. We have a lot of work to do. I want more women to aspire for leadership positions and to run for elected office. I want more women at leadership tables. My recent statement during Brampton’s Committee of Council is provided. Thank you to the women who reached out to me, and the allies who provided words of support.

The Residential Rental Licensing (RRL) Pilot Program, a two-year initiative for rental landlord registration and licensing, was approved during the March 29, 2023 Committee of Council meeting. The program’s framework was subsequently presented to the Committee of Council on September 20, 2023, and received unanimous approval.
The City of Brampton and Region of Peel, like all municipalities, are the champions who deliver the services we all use everyday. As we grow, will we be able to maintain all of the services at the levels we’ve come to expect and deserve?
Our property tax system was invented prior to the telephone and has never been upgraded. Its time to make some changes to improve our quality of life.
