“Brampton councillor’s song spotlights fight against harassment”

March 26, 2024 — As International Women’s Month draws to a close, Councillor Santos, alongside her band Point of Order, delivers a musical tribute to the theme of empowerment and inclusion. Their rendition of Christina Aguilera’s anthem “Fighter” serves as a resounding call to embrace individuality and champion diversity.

“Inspire inclusion is exactly this,” remarks Santos,  “Being ourselves and sitting here anyway. Rising up and speaking up anyway. Doing the hard work and leading anyway. Bringing our ideas forward and taking action anyway. Making room for other women anyway.”

Following a recent meeting in which Santos delivered a 15-minute presentation at council ahead of International Women’s Day, where she spoke up about facing harassment and discrimination on a daily basis. The choice of “Fighter” resonates with the theme of resilience and determination.

Through their rendition, Councillor Santos and Point of Order aim to ignite a sense of empowerment and solidarity among listeners, fostering a community where all voices are heard and celebrated.
