Brampton Continues to Invest in Community Services

Brampton’s 2025 Budget prioritizes community engagement with a 2.9% property tax increase, maintaining low rates while supporting a second hospital and CUPE’s wage increase. The budget includes significant investments in parks, recreation, and community safety, such as new splashpads, recreation centers, and expanded programs for all ages. Key projects include enhanced public spaces, winter-optimized facilities, and infrastructure improvements like new sports fields and a daycare facility at Chris Gibson Recreation Centre, all aligned with Brampton’s Vision 2040.

Brampton’s population has grown to 791,486, surpassing Mississauga and positioning it as the second-largest city in the GTHA. Despite this, the city faces chronic underfunding in essential services and misalignment in regional representation. A motion brought by Councillor Santos urges the provincial government to address these issues through equitable funding and fair representation.
