Continued efforts to prioritize safety – UPDATE on traffic calming in Wards 1 & 5

Reducing vehicular speed and cut-through traffic, particularly in local residential areas, remains a priority. The City continues to implement speed cushions, automated speed enforcement (ASE) cameras, road diets, increased signage, and strategically lowered neighbourhood speed limits to encourage safer driving behavior.

“I continue to hear from residents that speeding and cut-through traffic is a significant safety concern in local neighbourhoods. Multi-layered traffic calming measures are a crucial step in making Brampton’s streets safer for everyone. Through data and evidence, we are ensuring safer routes for those who walk or roll. We are listening to the community, prioritizing the safety of those most vulnerable, and taking action to get vehicles to slow down.”

– Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor, Wards 1 & 5
