Community Safety Update: February 2024

Thank you to the many residents and businesses in downtown Brampton and across Wards 1 & 5, for providing feedback regarding community safety issues. In the fall of 2023, we hosted a Community Safety Townhall meeting with residents, in collaboration with the Region of Peel and Peel Police. Several items have been actioned including recent announcements and advocacy related to auto-theft, increased support for Place-based Peel Outreach, Neighbourhood Associations , Peel Police CIRT and more. The work to tackle mental health and addictions, homelessness, and crime, particularly in the downtown core is ongoing.

Brampton Food Hub Collaboration on Food Insecurity

Food insecurity in Brampton and Peel Region is a growing challenge. Recent statistics for Peel Region show that 111,925 residents (8%) live in poverty in Peel. Food prices have increase by 11.4% year over year. Find our more about a new collaboration of community groups working to help.
