I believe it is vital for Brampton to be represented in key international discussions on economic growth, trade, sustainability and innovation.
Recently, I was honoured to be invited by the German Government to join an international climate conference focused on innovative waste management. This experience provided valuable insights and training that will help strengthen Brampton’s local services and support more effective, sustainable solutions for our community. My participation in this conference came at no cost to Brampton taxpayers.
The opportunity allowed me to learn firsthand about proven international practices, bringing back knowledge and training that will help advance forward-looking waste management solutions for our community. While not every mission delivers immediate investment announcements, they open doors, build relationships, and lay the foundation for long-term opportunities that benefit businesses, workers, and residents.
Although my focus is local, national and international developments often directly affect our city. We saw this during the U.S. tariff crisis, when the Prime Minister called on municipalities to unite with provinces in presenting a national response. At that time, I was proud to play an active role in protecting local businesses, safeguarding jobs, and ensuring Brampton’s voice was heard.
International missions ensure Brampton has a seat at the table when global opportunities arise, so our city is not left behind. My goal has always been to respect taxpayer dollars while ensuring Brampton is represented and engaged in conversations that directly shape our future.
