Sir Robert Peel Centre and Brampton 22 Division Redevelopment

A Milestone for Public Safety in the Region of Peel

Today marks a pivotal moment in Peel’s path to enhanced community safety and modernized policing infrastructure. At 22 Division in Brampton, Sir Robert Peel Centre this morning, Peel Regional Police officially announced the groundbreaking and commencement of construction for this multi-year transformation that will reshape public safety services for decades to come.

Deputy Chief Lauren Jackson underscored the significance of this project:

“The redevelopment of the Sir Robert Peel Centre is a reflection of our commitment to evolving with the needs of our community. This facility will not only enhance how we deliver services, but also strengthen our ability to collaborate, innovate, and keep our growing region safe.”

Construction officially began on September 8, 2025 with completion expected by late 2028 or early 2029. This phase will deliver a modernized facility designed to house advanced functions including a biometric-enabled Detainee Processing Unit and a state-of-the-art Forensic Identification Services lab.

Phase 2 will take place from 2029-2033 and will include the addition of 22 Division, enhanced Corporate Development spaces, and expanded secure parking, all within a new multi-storey infrastructure.

Existing Peel Police services will remain fully operational throughout construction, ensuring no disruption to public safety services.

As Brampton and the Region of Peel continue to grow at an unprecedented pace, investments like the Sir Robert Peel Centre Redevelopment are essential to keeping our community safe and resilient. This project ensures that Peel Regional Police have the tools, technology, and infrastructure they need to respond effectively today and well into the future.

I am proud to support this once-in-a-generation investment in public safety, one that will provide modern facilities, protect critical operations like our 9-1-1 Communications Centre, and ensure residents can rely on uninterrupted emergency services.

As one of Canada’s fastest-growing regions, Peel Region deserves modern, innovative policing infrastructure. The redevelopment ensures sustained public safety operations without interruption, supporting continuous emergency call response and essential services. The phased approach ensures operational continuity, with services remaining accessible and functional throughout.

Brampton residents have told me they want their hard-earned tax dollars invested in projects that deliver real value and lasting impact. I have listened, which is why I am proud to support the Sir Robert Peel Centre Redevelopment, strengthening public safety while ensuring every dollar spent builds a safer, stronger community for the people of Brampton and Peel Region.
