(January 10, 2025) Today, City of Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown tabled the proposed 2025 Budget, focused on driving progress and prosperity, while enhancing quality of life for residents. The budget prioritizes affordability, community spaces and active living, Brampton Transit improvements, health care and revitalizing infrastructure to create a resilient future for Brampton.

Expanded amenities for cricket, park enhancements, outdoor ice rinks, and the Century Gardens Youth Hub are just some examples. The new Embleton Recreation Centre in the west end will be a huge benefit for my residents in Ward 5. Our continued investment to build the second hospital and supporting the Medical School are strong commitments that prioritizes improved healthcare in Brampton. Finally, major infrastructure projects like the Riverwalk and downtown revitalization in Ward 1 will drive economic growth and create housing opportunities for generations to come.”

The development of the 2025 Budget began with a comprehensive financial performance review of each line of business. This process identified over $2 million in operating cost savings and ensured that property tax requirements align with the efficient delivery of essential services and that community-building initiatives are undertaken only as they are ready for implementation.
As a result, the property tax levy will increase by 2.9% for the City, equating to an annual increase of $194 on the average residential home. This balanced approach allows Brampton to continue growing while remaining an affordable and attractive place for residents and businesses.
Each year, the annual budget identifies priorities, goals and initiatives to ensure the City is investing in the priorities that matter to residents. This year’s budget aligns with the City’s Corporate Strategic Plan 2022-2026 and commits record-level investments into the community.
2025 Proposed Budget Highlights
Critical infrastructure investments: Building a resilient future to meet both current and future needs
- $15.5 million for the Downtown Revitalization
- $15 million for the Riverwalk
Community spaces and active living: Creating modern, inclusive amenities that inspire recreation and foster pride
- $29 million for the new Embleton Community Centre and Library
- $23 million for winter-optimized facilities such as the Earnscliffe Cricket Dome
- $14 million for the construction of Cassie Campbell Field Hockey
- $5 million for park enhancements and playground upgrades
- Additional outdoor ice rinks
- Enhancing recreation programs by five per cent, which is the equivalent of serving an additional 8,000 participants
Brampton Transit enhancements: Aiming to reduce commute times and prioritize sustainable transportation options
- $300 million committed to the construction of Transit’s third facility
- 52,000 additional service hours to reduce wait times
Prioritizing health care: Strengthening health care infrastructure to meet the needs of Brampton’s growing population
- $10 million for the TMU School of Medicine, opening in 2025
- $81.1 million in reserves to date and $4.9 million in levies for Brampton’s second hospital

About Brampton’s Budget Development Process
The proposed budget has now been posted on the City’s website. If you require these documents in an alternate format, please submit your request to accessibility@brampton.ca.
Public delegations and Council discussions will begin on January 13, 2025, with final budget approval planned by January 20, 2025. The City’s annual budget process engages, educates and informs the citizens of Brampton through communications and engagement efforts.
This year’s budget supports the City of Brampton’s Corporate Strategic Plan 2022-2026. This critical document will provide structure to prioritize and deliver for the community. It will be a living plan that sets the context for the City’s budget master plans, projects, services, and resources.
