Brampton Unveils Rainbow Crosswalk After Years Without Pride Month Funding

Brampton has installed a rainbow crosswalk in Chinguacousy Park to support LGBTQIA2S+ communities during Pride Month. The project, originally proposed in 2022 and supported by the City Council, faced delays until it was revived this year. Despite funding set aside since 2019 by Peel Region, the crosswalk initiative was stalled until last year. The crosswalk is part of Brampton’s broader Pride celebrations, which include rainbow benches in Garden Square and Pride flag decals in Vivian Lane. Brampton receives partial funding from Peel Region for these installations, contributing to the overall project costs.
