This International Women’s Day, we are embracing the theme #GiveToGain.
Too often, we talk about gender equity as a destination, but it is a journey, one that requires us to move beyond words and into concrete, everyday accountability. True progress happens when we commit to be an Ally for the cause. To “Give” by giving our time, our resources, our mentorship, and our voices, so that every woman and girl not just in Brampton but more can “Gain” the opportunity to lead, to thrive, and to live free from barriers.
This year’s music video is a tribute to this collective work. It highlights that gender equity is not just a “women’s issue” it is a concern in the community. The song “Stand By Me/My Girl Mash-up” by Ben E. King/The Temptations reminds us that no matter how dark the night, we are stronger when we walk together.
This year’s theme transforms that classic sentiment into a call to action: by choosing to show up, support, and stand by one another, we ensure that no woman or girl has to face her challenges alone. I am so proud to work alongside our community organizations who are doing the heavy lifting in Brampton.
From the fathers that are stepping up to champion their daughters’ futures, and to the allies like community leaders and organizations working tirelessly on the front lines to provide safety, housing, and advocacy, we are stronger when we stand together.
Today, I invite you to join us in this movement. Beyond the screen, there are vital organizations across Brampton doing the essential work of restoration and empowerment every single day.
A massive thank you to our incredible community partners:
