City of Brampton launches new interactive construction map and city-wide survey to shape future of parks and recreation

As one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities, Brampton is taking a bold step toward smarter and more transparent urban planning with the launch of two initiatives to better connect residents with the future of their parks and recreation spaces.

“We recognize that residents want to be active participants in how their neighbourhoods grow, not just by seeing what’s being built, but by helping shape what’s needed. The new construction map provides transparency and real-time updates while the city-wide survey creates an opportunity for residents to share their ideas and priorities. Together, these tools ensure Brampton’s parks and public spaces reflect the needs of our community.”

New interactive Parks and Recreation Construction Map
The City of Brampton is putting real-time project information at residents’ fingertips with the launch of a new interactive Parks and Recreation Construction Map. This digital tool brings transparency and convenience to the planning and delivery of parks and recreation infrastructure.

The interactive map allows residents to explore the status of parks and recreation projects city-wide, with updates provided as each project reaches key milestones. From new playgrounds and splash pads to revitalized recreation centres and walkways, users can search by neighbourhood or project type to stay informed on the work happening around them.

Projects are organized into four categories:

  • Park – New Development (e.g. splash pads, outdoor rinks, fitness equipment)
  • Park – Revitalization (e.g. playground replacements, trail and court upgrades)
  • Recreation – New Development (e.g. new recreation centres, youth hubs, community parks)
  • Recreation – Revitalization (e.g. facility renovations and amenity repairs)

Currently, there are over 80 parks and recreation projects underway across the city, with more planned in the months and years ahead. They include but are not limited to Chris Gibson Recreation Centre, Cassie Campbell Field Hockey Dome, playground replacements, shade shelter installations and sport court enhancements. Updated regularly, the tool reflects Brampton’s commitment to transparency, digital innovation and engaging residents in the growth and development of their city.

Have your say | Help shape the future of Brampton’s parks
In addition to the construction map, the City has also launched a new public survey inviting residents to share their ideas for future park upgrades and amenities. Open until December 1, 2025, the survey asks residents to identify the features they would like to see added or improved in their neighbourhood parks. All respondents will be entered for a chance to win a prize. Visit brampton.ca/parksplanning to take the survey and have your say.

This initiative ensures resident feedback directly informs how future investments are planned and prioritized, creating more welcoming, inclusive and functional public spaces.

Both the interactive map and survey support Brampton’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan (PRMP), a 15-year roadmap for delivering high-quality parks, open spaces and recreational amenities. Recently updated as part of a five-year review, the PRMP identifies key growth areas and makes recommendations to ensure Brampton’s infrastructure keeps pace with its booming population and diverse community needs.

Additional Quote

“The launch of this interactive map and city-wide survey is a major step forward in how we engage with our community. Residents now have real-time access to nearly 80 active parks and recreation projects to see exactly how we are investing in parks and recreation. Just as importantly, the city-wide survey gives them a direct say in what comes next. Brampton is among the fastest-growing major cities in Canada, and as our city continues to grow, it is essential that we plan together, listen to what truly matters to residents and ensure every neighbourhood has access to safe, inclusive and high-quality parks and recreation opportunities.”
