Brampton Transit introduces BT On Demand

BRAMPTON, ON (April 15, 2024) – Brampton Transit proudly announces the launch of its innovative flexible route service, BT On Demand, commencing on April 29, 2024.

Designed to elevate accessibility and convenience for transit users within a defined service zone, BT On Demand marks a significant shift by catering directly to customer requests rather than adhering to fixed routes. This ground-breaking service replaces Route 40 Central Industrial, offering riders a dynamic micro-transit alternative finely tuned to their needs.

The BT On Demand transit app, available for download on Google Play and the Apple App Store, serves as the primary platform for optimizing trip bookings.

Here’s how riders can book their trips:

  • Download the BT On Demand app from Google Play or the Apple App Store.
  • Create an account using your phone number.
  • Enter your trip start and end locations.
  • The app will find available rides and suggest the earliest possible option.
  • Confirm the number of passengers and press the Request Ride button.
  • Payment is made upon boarding, with cash, PRESTO, and contactless credit and debit cards accepted.

Upon booking, riders receive real-time updates on their trip status via the app, including the estimated arrival time of the vehicle. For those without access to smartphones or the internet, trip requests can be made via the contact centre at (905)-874-2999, available during the following hours:

Monday to Friday: 7 am to 9 pm
Saturday: 7 am to 7 pm
Sunday: 9 am to 6 pm

* Riders provide their location, intended destination, and preferred departure or arrival time to the agent, who confirms the trip details verbally.

Important information to know:

  1. BT On Demand operates under the current Fare Policies.
  2. Trips can be booked for the same day or up to seven days in advance, accessible through the app or contact centre.

“In recognition of the increasing demand for efficient transit solutions and the evolving needs of our residents, I am excited for the launch of BT On Demand. This flexible route service app, launching April 29, is a testament to our commitment to enhancing accessibility and convenience for all. By empowering riders to customize their journeys via the user-friendly app or contact centre, we are revolutionizing transit with personalized transit options.”
