Councillor Santos is thrilled to support the upcoming Atiba Hutchinson “13 Great Assists” Soccer Festival, set to take place at Century Gardens on May 17 & May 18. This unique event combines the thrill of soccer with the spirit of giving back, teaching young athletes the invaluable lesson of making a positive impact beyond the field.
“It’s an honour to support Brampton’s own, Atiba Hutchinson, who continues to inspire and give back to our community with events like this one at Century Gardens. Just like our Atiba #13, we are calling on our youth to give back to community and participate in the passion of soccer. I encourage all youth soccer clubs and players to complete their acts of kindness and join Atiba at this free event to give back by learning new skills in the community and on the field.” – Rowena Santos, Councillor Wards 1&5, Chair of Community Services.
At the heart of the festival is the concept of “13 Great Assists” — representing Atiba’s jersey number, the assists celebrate the good deeds our young participants will perform in their communities. Just as assists are crucial on the soccer field, these acts of kindness are essential to fostering a nurturing and supportive environment off the field. Through this initiative, children will learn the importance of giving back, cultivating habits that build character and goodwill.
Participants will engage in activities designed to inspire generosity, teamwork, and social responsibility. Each activity completed will bring them closer to fulfilling a community bingo card, marking their journey of impactful contributions. This blend of sport and service aims to plant the seeds of lifelong benevolence, encouraging youth to recognize the power they hold to effect positive change.
We invite community members to visit, participate in fun soccer activities, DJ, and much more.
“Join us in celebrating a day of sport and service, where every step and every pass leads to a stronger, more compassionate community,” Councillor Santos adds.
