Regional Councillor Brampton Wards 1 & 5

Congratulations Annie Bynoe – Let’s help unlock the doors to the new building for Knights Table

On January 30, 2026, Brampton celebrated Annie Bynoe, Executive Director of Knights Table, with the Key to the City, the municipality’s highest symbolic honour, recognizing her decades of service to youth, families, and vulnerable residents across the city.

“It is an honour to recognize a local resident in Wards 1 & 5, Annie Bynoe with the Key to the City. Her leadership — responding to urgent needs, mentoring youth, and strengthening our community — has transformed lives in Brampton. Annie, thank you for your heart, your vision, and your service. We love you, Annie. Let’s keep the momentum of this event going. Please make a donation to support Annie’s Legacy Project: Knights Table New Building.

– Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor, Wards 1 & 5, City of Brampton

The ceremony, hosted by Adaoma Patterson Gilling, featured remarks from dignitaries, family, and Youth Achievers who were mentored by Annie during the years, as well as a tribute from Mayor Patrick Brown and Council.

Annie’s work spans decades and addresses multiple community needs: she founded the Mobile Community Kitchen, providing hot meals directly to residents in vulnerable neighbourhoods; helped establish the Brampton Food Hub to increase access to culturally appropriate foods; and led programs supporting youth mentorship, skills development, and community engagement.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, when operations were limited, Annie ensured that services continued, recognizing that the community’s needs never stop. Her initiatives also include wraparound services for families experiencing poverty, food insecurity, or housing challenges, ensuring that residents have both immediate support and long-term opportunities for success.

Supporting Annie’s Legacy Project

Annie is now leading a legacy project: Knights Table New Facility to renovate a new Knights Table facility, expanding services for families, seniors, and individuals across Brampton. The facility will include a market-style food bank, teaching kitchen, community dining areas, and resource rooms to provide holistic support.

Councillor Santos emphasized:

“Knights Table has long been a cornerstone in Brampton’s fight against food insecurity. This new facility will better serve our community — let’s support their efforts together.”

Residents and partners are encouraged to donate to help bring this vision to life: https://knightstable.org/donations/
