Brampton Pushes Back as Slumlord Defenders Stage Failing Protests

Protesters opposing Brampton’s Residential Rental Licensing program, led by Azad Goyat and Raj Ghuman, are losing traction as the City defends its crackdown on unsafe rentals. Despite claims of high costs, the 2025 budget waived all RRL fees, making the program free for landlords. The RRL pilot has improved housing safety across five wards, with wide support from vulnerable tenants, including students and newcomers. City Council remains united in its position: rental units must be legal, safe, and fair — and the program will move forward as planned.
