City of Brampton enhancing Riverstone Community Centre

The City of Brampton has begun enhancements to the Riverstone Community Centre, aimed at improving the facility’s amenities to better serve the community. This project is part of Brampton’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan, reflecting the City’s commitment to promoting active and healthy lifestyles through strategic investments in recreational infrastructure.

“Riverstone Community Centre brings friends together, strengthens families and provides a space where individuals find support and wellness. These renovations go beyond upgrading a facility, they create a welcoming, inclusive and empowering space for everyone. We are actively building a place where residents of all ages and backgrounds thrive, and I am proud to see this vision come to life.”

– Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor, Wards 1 & 5; Chair, Community Services, City of Brampton

Recreation Revitalized | Riverstone Community Centre

The renovations at Riverstone Community Centre will improve existing public spaces within the facility to enhance accessibility and user experience. Key improvements include:

  • Expansion of the lower-level fitness centre to accommodate a wider range of fitness classes and activities.
  • Creation of a community room on the lower level, developing a versatile area to support various community programs and events.
  • Redesign and renovation of the lower-level washrooms to improve accessibility and user experience.

The centre will remain open during renovations, and fitness classes, community bookings, and programming will take place in alternate spaces in the facility.

While the elevator will be out of service during the renovation, building facilities including washrooms are available on the main floor.

The project is anticipated to be complete summer 2025.

The Riverstone Community Centre renovation is part of the City’s broader efforts to encourage active and healthy lifestyles. With a city-wide increase in recreation programming by five per cent in 2025, Brampton aims to welcome 8,000 more patrons to its facilities and programs. The City of Brampton is continuing to invest in transformative projects, including Embleton Community Centre and Century Gardens Youth Hub, with plans for additional projects over the next few years.
