Registration is now open for the City of Brampton’s 2025 Backyard Garden Program. This initiative empowers residents to grow their own produce and give back to the community in a meaningful way. The program has been refreshed to offer residents enhanced opportunities to strengthen their gardening skills and learn about the many benefits of horticulture.
“The Backyard Garden Program is a wonderful way to strengthen our sense of community and help residents discover the many rewards of gardening. We are thrilled to relaunch this program with new features that will inspire even more residents to start their own gardens. By learning to grow produce, residents can improve their health, reduce food costs and donate some of their harvest to the community. With expert guidance and essential supplies, participants will be set up for success and connected to a community that shares their passion.”

New this year, participating residents will be required to attend an in-person workshop led by experienced gardeners from the Brampton Horticultural Society. These interactive sessions will provide valuable knowledge on planting, caring for and harvesting a backyard garden. The in-person workshops will run throughout March, ensuring that participants are equipped with the skills and confidence to begin their gardening journey in time for the growing season.
How to participate
To participate in the 2025 Backyard Garden Program, residents are required to sign up for and attend one in-person workshop. Taking place at Century Gardens Recreation Centre in Community Room 2 on the second floor, the workshops are scheduled on Saturday, March 1, 8, 15 and 22, from 9 to 11 am. Attendance is mandatory to receive gardening supplies at the end of March. For questions about attending the workshops, interested participants can contact bramptongreencity@brampton.ca.
