BRAMPTON, ON (April 19, 2024) – The City of Brampton is gearing up to celebrate National Youth Week (NYW), running from May 1 to May 7, 2024, with a vibrant array of events and activities tailored for youth aged 14 to 29.
National Youth Week is an annual tribute to the invaluable contributions of young people in shaping a resilient and vibrant community. It serves as a platform to empower youth to actively engage and give back to their city. Last year, over 1,200 enthusiastic young individuals participated in Brampton’s NYW events and activities.
This year’s celebrations, generously sponsored by Domino’s Pizza Canada and Royal Bank of Canada, promise an exciting lineup of free activities, including:
- Basketball and Soccer Tournament
- Free Drop-in Programs
- Job Information Fair and Employment Ready Workshops
- Retro Rolling Skate Night
- Outdoor Social Scavenger Hunt
- We Play Too, Girls and Women in Sports Leadership Conference
- Parks Community Clean-Up
- Arts Inside: Songwriters Circle & Inspiration
Moreover, courtesy of Alectra, youth aged 10 to 17 can join free after-school drop-in basketball programs from May 1 to June 28 at select community centers.
The City’s Economic Development team is also rolling out a series of empowering events during NYW, including the prestigious Wolfhacks Hackathon, focused on Brampton’s 2040 Vision, and informative webinars on youth entrepreneurship.
As a highlight of NYW, the City proudly introduces the Brampton Discovery Youth Pass, designed for youth aged 13 to 18. This pass unlocks exclusive access to City facilities, special events, and a host of engaging activities, encouraging youth to explore Brampton’s diverse offerings and create lasting memories.
With approximately 150,000 youth aged 14 to 29 calling Brampton home, the City remains steadfast in its commitment to providing safe, inclusive spaces and a wide range of programs that cater to the needs and interests of its young residents.
