During a recent Committee of Council meeting in June 2023, a new Neighbourhood Association Guide was approved in Brampton, with Councillor Rowena Santos at the forefront, advocating for community empowerment and social cohesion. This guide includes a grant stream of up to $1,500 to support eligible groups and projects aimed at fostering a sense of community and improving Brampton’s diverse neighbourhoods. Santos highlights the importance of formal organization to empower local neighbourhoods, particularly amidst the pandemic, emphasizing the benefits of community engagement and collaboration with the city. Additionally, a Nurtured Neighbourhood Grant will provide financial support for projects enhancing neighbourhood aesthetics and safety measures, further encouraging residents to establish connections and collectively work towards enhancing their quality of life.
