Peel Regional Police has officially concluded the 2025 Seasonal Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) Campaign, delivering clear results and reinforcing the region’s zero-tolerance approach to impaired driving.
The annual Seasonal RIDE Campaign focuses on preventing alcohol and drug-impaired driving through increased roadside checks, targeted enforcement, and public awareness, particularly during high-risk periods.
What the Seasonal RIDE Campaign Does
The Seasonal RIDE Campaign is designed to identify and remove impaired drivers from the road before serious harm occurs. Officers conduct proactive roadside checks, administer sobriety testing, and take enforcement action when impairment is detected.
This approach prioritizes prevention, visibility, and accountability, while sending a consistent message that impaired driving will not be tolerated anywhere in Peel.
2025 Campaign Results
This year’s campaign saw heightened enforcement activity across the region:
- Over 16,000 vehicles investigated
- Over 6,000 roadside breathalyzer tests administered
- Over 1,000 charges laid
These figures reflect both the scale of the enforcement effort and the continued risks posed by impaired driving.
A Shared Responsibility
Impaired driving remains one of the most preventable causes of serious collisions. Peel Regional Police continues to emphasize that planning ahead using designated drivers, rideshares, or public transit saves lives.
Community safety depends not only on enforcement, but also on individual choices and collective responsibility. Residents are encouraged to make safe decisions and look out for one another on every road, in every season.
